The Green Valley Creek Project (GVCP) is a joint venture between Mounties and Fairfield City Council to restore a portion of Green Valley Creek between Humphries Road and Cabramatta Road to its natural state.
Restoration works commenced on 25 September 2007 and will see the existing waterway dredged and all vegetation removed in order to allow for complete beautification. This process entails the creek being re-vegetated with native flora that is more consistent with what would have originally featured in this area. It will also make the creek more attractive to native fauna.
Mounties recognises the importance of this project and has committed $1 million to fund the works, which are being managed by Fairfield City Council. Green Valley Creek is part of the five creeks system within the Fairfield City area which also includes Clear Paddock Creek and Orphan School Creek. These waterways eventually run into Prospect Creek and the Georges River.
